Interview with Performance Racing Industry Magazine
Race Host was recently invited to do an interview with Performance Racing Industry Magazine. The article highlighted E-commerce, Online Catalogs and Other Information Technology.
While there are countless things to consider when developing an online catalog, John (Trey) Piccard III from Race Host, Orlando, Florida, highlighted some key steps:
- Hire a professional web development company or use 'off the shelf' e-commerce software.
- Develop the category and product structure so that customers will easily get to their product without having to go through many clicks.
- Create clean, crisp images of the products for customers to see.
- Create easy-to-read descriptions that are informative and to the point, including detailed specs and information.
- Always consider how a customer would shop in a real-world environment.
- Keep it simple and user friendly.
- Populate the online catalog with category and product data.
- Test and retest to ensure that all components are functioning in multiple web browsers.
- Launch online and start your e-business.
To create an online catalog, John (Trey) Piccard III said, "There are many 'off the shelf' e-commerce softwares that can be used, but in my opinion, the best way for a racing business to develop an online catalog is to hire a professional web development company to develop their online catalog for them. Once developed, they can have a member of their staff trained to manage the online catalog or hire a reliable subcontractor to manage it for them. Our RaceCart Ecommerce Software is a great e-commerce software for racing companies to use because it is developed specifically for the motorsport industry...

Performance Racing Industry Show 2008
The Performance Racing Industry trade show has been an annual event for two decades, filling up the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida with racing and performance products and famous racers and engineers. While the show is dominated by the domestics, numerous import manufacturers were also represented along with supporting aftermarket companies.
Attendance is limited to people involved in the industry - wholesalers, racers, speed shops, and performance manufacturers - but the show was still crowded. All the famed performance equipment makers were represented, both new names and legendary players, niche groups and mass-market suppliers. Every year racers, engineers, and marketers meet old friends, make new ones, and see new product introductions; most performance gear is unveiled either at PRI or SEMA.
